Pumpkin Spice Latte

Every year I wait with unrestrained excitement for Fall and Starbucks to bring back the Pumpkin Spice Latte.  Now I don't live too far from a Starbucks but it's not actually located in my home town (which is probably a good thing on my waistline) and usually when I am craving one it is either too late or I am too lazy to leave the house so I had to figure out how to appease my pumpkin craving closer to home and this is what I came up with.

I actually found this recipe online and am happy to report it satisfies my inner child with a big shot of pumpkin pie spices in a cup.

Pumpkin Spice Latte
Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons canned pumpkin puree
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger brewed espresso

Directions

  1. Brew your espresso. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, whisk together the pumpkin, vanilla, sugar, pumpkin pie spice and milk. Warm over medium heat, whisking constantly, until hot and frothy. Do not bring to a boil. Pour the espresso into a mug and pour the pumpkin spiced milk over it.
  2. I also added a scoop of whipped cream and sprinkle of cinnamon.
  3. Enjoy!
