When the thought of spending a few weeks alone with just my little guy (as Hailey was spending two weeks with Grandma and Grandpa) initially crossed my mind I had visions of outings such as bike riding a few of the local trails, hiking those trails, swimming at the pool just down the road, camping out by the lake for a few warm sunny days and sitting by the fire at night roasting marshmallows to squish between graham wafers and chocolate chunks...and in all fairness we have done most of that but what I didn't envision was a little man who would not be separated from my side for more than 1 minute. He needs to be on the same floor as me at all times, if I run upstairs to switch the laundry from washer to dryer he calls out "mom where are you going? Are you coming right back?". If I am upstairs and need to go downstairs to retrieve something from the freezer he calls out " Mom what are you doing?? Where are you going??". I actually have caught myself trying to sneak up/down the stairs in the hope he doesn't hear me... I haven't done that since I was a teenager trying to outwit my parents! I guess I will chalk his neediness up to being lonely and missing his sister who is usually here to play and spar with him. Thankfully she arrives back home in two days and with any luck my happy go lucky boy will return to me right where he left off before these two weeks began.
